Do Cane Corsos Like To Cuddle? Are They Affectionate?

Cane Corso Cudling with Owner.

The Cane Corso is one of the biggest and most powerful mastiff dog breeds you’ve probably ever seen. They are well known for their muscular build, thick neck, and natural guardian instincts. And if they have their signature cropped ears, they can even look scary and intimidating. Knowing all of that many people wonder if Cane Corsos like to cuddle.

Do Cane Corsos Like To Cuddle? Cane Corsos love cuddling with their owners and family members. These giants are actually big fur babies that love receiving affection as well as showing their love to their family. This is what makes Cane Corsos the perfect family dog.

Are Cane Corsos Good Family Dogs?

From my experience, Cane Corsos are great family dogs that will show you love and affection all the time. They are amazing with kids, they love to play, they love to cuddle and they know how to be gentle, even if they are a big and strong dog breed.

The only thing they do require is basic training and socialization from an early age and a warm loving home where they are going to feel happy and loved.

All of this mixed with their natural protective instincts is what makes Cane Corsos the perfect family dog.

Are Cane Corsos Affectionate?

Cane Corsos are very affectionate and loving beings. Even though they don’t like to show it to strangers outside your family or even to other dogs, Cane Corsos like to show love to their owners all the time.

Further in this article you’ll see all the ways this breed shows its affection, are there any downsides to it, and how to deal with potential issues.

How Do Cane Corsos Show Their Affection?

Cane Corsos are not a type of breed that is friendly to everybody they see, but when they are with their family and people they know and love, they like to express their love in different ways.

They like to snuggle next to you

By now you already know that Cane Corsos are essentially big babies and that they like to cuddle. If you are a Cane Corso owner, you know that when you’re at home and just want to sit and relax, your dog will follow you and try to snuggle next to you. I know my Corsos would sit on a chair with me if they could.

They seek your attention

If you’re thinking of getting a Cane Corso puppy, this is something you should know. This is not a breed that can be left alone in a yard without any attention. Cane Corsos are meant to be a part of your family and as such, they are always looking to spend more time with you. If you’re ignoring them or doing something fun without them, you will see them trying to join you almost every time.

They get excited when they see you

I know what you’re thinking right now, every dog gets excited when its owner comes home. But with Cane Corsos, you’ll notice it’s a bit different. It’s not only that they get excited when they see their owners, but they are also always on the lookout for them when they’re not around.

Are Cane Corsos Clingy?

As much as Cane Corsos love to cuddle and snuggle up against you, they are not clingy dogs at all. Again, yes, they do like to spend a certain amount of time with their owners, but they also like their own space where they can rest and be alone.

It’s important for a Cane Corso to have its own place and space in a home. Early training with Cane Corso puppies plays a big role here as well since that is the perfect time to pick a place for them and teach them that that is their spot. Without any training, Cane Corsos will usually find a spot on their own, and when they do, it’s hard to switch to a new one.

Why Does My Cane Corso Lean On Me

Leaning on its owner is one of the most common ways a Cane Corso shows its love. The lean is commonly a protective instinct or a sign of affection. They stand by your side to let you know that they are there for you and they also want your attention.

I’ve covered this in more detail in my other post: “Why Does My Cane Corso Lean On Me?”

The Proper Relationship With A Cane Corso

We’ve established that Cane Corsos are full of love and deeply attached to their owners. Now let’s briefly cover the two essential things in building a good relationship with your Cane Corso so it can really live up to its full potential and become the perfect pet.

Training your Cane Corso puppy from an early age is one of the things I like to bring up all the time. You don’t have to take it to an expensive trainer or anything like that, but simple training and socialization are a must!

Not only will your dog be easier to train down the road, but you’ll also have a deeper and better relationship because of it.

Giving your Cane Corso the attention it needs on a daily basis is very important. Like I already said, they are not a dog you can leave alone in your yard all the time. They want their daily playtime, walking time, cuddle time, and just want to be around you sometimes.

Your Cane Corso will show you unconditional love all the time, make sure you return the favor.
